Steampunk NZ is calling out for entries to the 2017 Steampunk Festival Fashion Show “Moments in Time”. This year’s festival sees a return to The Oamaru Opera House as the venue for the fashion show which will feature a series of tiny theatre pieces with an emphasis on the ‘story’ behind the costumes created. Contestants are invited to create a 90 second ‘episode’ that depicts a character in its own steampunk world, complete with costume and props. The best moments win. Contestants can enter a complete outfit or there are categories for ‘Hats’ and ‘Prosthetics’. First time entrants get their own category – so budding fashion designers, people who love to sew or just creative folk can try their skills, see their creations up on the big stage and be in the running for some great prizes. It’s also a chance to go backstage at the beautiful Opera House and be part of the fun and excitement of a world famous event. Registration for the fashion show closes April 30 and entry forms are available from the Steampunk NZ website – www.steampunknz.co.nz. The Festival runs over Queen’s Birthday Weekend, June 1 – 5, with “Moments in Time” helping round off the festivities on Sunday the 4th at 3pm. Tickets to the Fashion Show are on sale now and do sell out so make sure you get them early from the website, Ticketdirect or The Oamaru Opera House.
