This Sunday the market will have representatives on hand from the Harbour Street Jazz & Blues Festival and from Oamaru Opera House to let all and sundry know about some exciting performances coming to town.
The Harbour Street Jazz and Blues Festival has a full programme of events and workshops from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 March, with performances taking place in all over the Victorian Precinct (including at the farmers’ market on Sunday!).
The following night, Monday 20 March, the Opera House is bringing international phenomenon Stimela: “The Gumboot Musical” to town. Stimela is celebration of song and dance that has swept across the globe like a tidal wave of soaring voices and stomping feet.
There will be chances to win double passes to Stimela: “The Gumboot Musical” at this Sunday’s market. At 10am there will be a prize giveaway for the “Best Dressed in Gumboots” – wear your best gumboots for the chance to win a double pass. There will also be prize giveaways for “Gumboot Quoits” champions – five rings tossed over a gumboot wins you a double pass. Market patrons will also be able to purchase tickets to Stimela from the Oamaru Opera House’s marquee.
Julie Barclay, Jazz Festival Coordinator will also be singing snazzy Jazz to get us in the mood for the upcoming festival. Tickets to the headline act, Midge Marsden will also be available at the Market.
