Elise Blundell is opening a new acupuncture clinic in Oamaru at the Community House, with a unique take on affordability in healthcare. The walk-in clinic breaks down the financial barrier to receiving health care by treating patients in a group setting, together in one room – lowering the cost for all. Community style acupuncture is popular in the U.S, and there are two clinics in New Zealand. Everyone is welcome and up to five people can be treated at once in the comfortable reclining chairs. To maintain confidentiality, particularly in sensitive cases, there are health forms patients can fill out to avoid questioning. Elise can also take the wrist pulse and look at the tongue to help her diagnose the condition. The clinic is opening at 12pm on Thursday the 20th of July, with drinks, snacks, Q and A’s, and demonstrations until 1pm, followed by treatments until 7pm. It will then run weekly each Thursday afternoon. If you would like to volunteer as a subject for the demonstration during the first hour of opening, please contact Elise. The community clinic operates on a sliding scale fee – the patient chooses to pay between $15 and $40.For more information you can check out the clinics website at www.communityacu.net, email Elise at email@example.com or call on 0223765960.
